ITM 2025 Opens Under the Sign of Ambition

The Madagascar International Tourism Fair (ITM) opened its doors on June 12th for its 11th edition.

During the inauguration, President Andry Rajoelina announced the upcoming construction of at least five new 5-star hotels. This decision aims to support the growth of the country’s tourism sector. In 2024, tourism generated USD 780 million in Madagascar. More than 350,000 people work directly in the sector. To maintain this momentum, the government also plans to increase flights from the United Arab Emirates.

Other connections are being considered with China, India, Germany, and Israel. This year’s fair brings together 500 exhibitors, 100 more than the previous edition. Morocco is the guest of honor. This could pave the way for new economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries. This edition also hosts the General Assembly of the Vanilla Islands. The Malagasy Minister of Tourism, Viviane Dewa, received her Mauritian counterpart, Jean Sydney Pierre. The latter stated that the Indian Ocean islands must raise awareness of each other and work together.

Representatives from Seychelles, Mayotte, Réunion, and the Comoros are participating in this regional meeting. For four days, tourism professionals, institutions, and stakeholders will come together to discuss the future of the sector, share ideas, and create new opportunities.
