Mauritius charts its course towards the future

The Mauritian Head of State, Dharam Gokhool, presented on Monday, May 26, 2025, a major plan to transform Mauritius into a more connected and innovative country. The ceremony took place in Port Louis, at the Sir Harilall Vaghjee Hall, in the presence of Ministers, Members of Parliament, and representatives of the United Nations.

President Gokhool explained that this plan, called “A Bridge to the Future – Digital Transformation 2025-2029,” aims to make digital technology accessible to all Mauritians, wherever they live. He emphasized the importance of leaving no one behind and building a fairer society through technology.

Among the planned actions, the government aims to modernize public services by making them available online, create a single mobile ID for all, develop artificial intelligence, and strengthen internet security.

Minister of Technology Dr. Avinash Ramtohul added that this plan is based on four key points: building a strong internet infrastructure, training people on digital tools, encouraging businesses to innovate, and using environmentally friendly technologies.

With this project, the island aims to prepare for the rapid changes in the digital world. “The goal is to enable everyone to live, work, and learn in a safe and modern environment, while helping the economy grow,” the Minister added.
