An ambition affirmed by the new CEO
Making Rodrigues a full-fledged player in the national technological boom. This is the vision set by Veemal Gungadin, the new CEO of Mauritius Telecom, during his first official visit to the island since his appointment.
This visit, beyond its symbolic significance, reflects a desire to anchor innovation in all regions. Rodrigues, long perceived as peripheral, is now at the heart of the telecom operator’s ambitions. Indeed, digital technology is now seen as a key driver of local, economic, and social development.
During his stay, the new CEO will meet with Chief Commissioner Franceau Grandcourt, his deputy Johnson Roussety, and other members of the regional executive. But the highlight of the visit will undoubtedly be the exchange with the fifty or so Mauritius Telecom employees present on the island. The objective: to listen to the realities on the ground, recognize the efforts of staff, and co-construct Rodrigues’ digital future.
A business meeting will also bring together MT’s B2B partners on site. This will provide an opportunity for the company’s manager to strengthen commercial ties, identify the specific needs of local economic stakeholders, and affirm the company’s commitment to supporting them in a successful digital transition. A meeting with retailers will complete this inclusive approach.
Through this visit, Mauritius Telecom aims to affirm that innovation must leave no one behind. Rodrigues is thus becoming a local laboratory for experimenting with responsible, human, and inclusive digital technology.
