A partnership serving all Mauritians
The opportunities of the digital revolution are at the heart of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between Mauritius Telecom (MT) and State Informatics Ltd (SIL).
The signing took place on September 26 at MT’s premises in Port Louis, in the presence of the Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Avinash Ramtohul. This alliance opens a new chapter in public-private cooperation to accelerate the country’s digitalization.
The Digital Transformation Blueprint 2025–2029 – A Bridge to the Future constitutes the framework for this initiative. This government strategic document sets out the guidelines for building a more inclusive and sustainable society, while propelling Mauritius into the ranks of leading digital economies. “This plan focuses on innovation and citizen participation to strengthen our position in the digital economy,” the Minister reiterated.
Mauritius Telecom and SIL are now joining forces to support digital projects of national scope. For Veemal Gungadin, CEO of MT, the agreement reflects a clear commitment: “We want to support the State in its priorities. Our teams and technologies will be used to modernize the administration, stimulate innovation, and build a more connected society, resolutely focused on the future,” he said.
For his part, Parmesh Pallanee, Managing Director of SIL, emphasized the importance of creating true synergy. “This partnership gives us the opportunity to break down silos and provide integrated solutions. We want to place citizens at the center of this transformation to build a more inclusive and innovative Mauritius,” he stated.
For Minister Ramtohul, this collaboration is fully aligned with the national strategy. “This project illustrates the strength of the Public-Private-People Partnership (PPPP) model, where everyone contributes to shaping the future.” Our goal is to ensure that every Mauritian benefits from the opportunities of the digital revolution*,” he stressed.
