A New Digital Era
The 5G network will soon be launched in the Comoros. On May 15, 2025, the National Agency for the Regulation of Information and Communication Technologies (ANRTIC) issued official authorizations to the country’s two telecom operators: Comores Telecom and Yas Comores.
With this green light, the country is entering a new digital era. For Ali Hadji Mmadi, CEO of Comores Telecom, this is a major step forward. The CEO thanked ANRTIC and the government for their trust and support. “This is a historic moment. Comorians are taking an important step towards modern technology today,” he declared proudly. Mmadi also recalled that the company had promised to launch 5G by early 2025, and that promise is now becoming a reality.
Taoufik Mbae, Technical Director of ANRTIC, highlighted the importance of this development. The official explained that during an international conference in 2023, some countries were granted authorization to use new frequency bands, previously reserved for other uses. These bands, ranging from 30,300 to 30,600 MHz, are ideal for fast internet connections, particularly on mobile devices.
With 5G, Comorians will be able to enjoy faster and more stable internet. This will promote the development of many sectors: health, education, commerce, online services, and many others. Operators will also be tasked with supporting the government in network management, control, and security.
