210 million EUR invested in key projects in 2024
In 2024, 210 million EUR was allocated to Réunion and the French Southern and Antarctic Territories, out of a total of EUR 453 million invested by the French Development Agency (AFD) in the Indian Ocean region. This financing supported 36 major projects.
These achievements included the construction of a municipal swimming pool in Plaine-des-Palmistes, support for the Saint-Charles secondary school, the creation of the Oasis Garden in Le Port, and sustainable development awareness-raising activities in schools.
In total, 84 projects were funded in the region for a total of EUR 453 million, a decrease compared to 2023, an exceptional year with 790 million EUR committed. In addition to these amounts, 28 million EUR has been provided by Proparco, an AFD subsidiary dedicated to the private sector and sustainable economic, social, and environmental development.
To date, 127 million EUR has already been allocated to Réunion to support these projects. These investments are taking place in a context of slow economic growth and the challenges of climate change.
