Road rehabilitation in the Comoros

The Washili region awaits lasting change

The Comorian government has officially launched rehabilitation work on the Bahani-Mitsamihuli road.

The Secretary General of the Government, Nour El-Fath Azali, visited the construction site on May 24, 2025, accompanied by the Minister of Gender, Fatima Ahamada, and the Minister of Regional Planning, Chekidine Saïd Madi.

On site, the presence of the first machinery and equipment was confirmed. “About a fifth of the equipment is already on site. All should be delivered by Tuesday,” the Secretary General stated. The professionalism of the Wietec company, in charge of the work, was praised, particularly thanks to the asphalt plant installed directly on the site.

The government wants to avoid the mistakes of the past. This road, which had already been resurfaced previously, did not last long. This time, construction is planned to last at least ten years, according to the company’s commitments. The importance of rigorous site monitoring was emphasized to ensure quality work meets expectations.

Minister Fatima Ahamada confirmed that work has successfully begun. “The presence of the machinery is good news for the entire Washili region,” she declared. As a resident of the region, the public was called upon to support the project.

Leader Ibouroi Cheha expressed his gratitude to President Azali Assoumani for his vision. It was noted that other national roads also deserve special attention. This project is hoped to serve as an example for future projects in the country.
