Modern road access to improve the lives of residents
A new motorized road was inaugurated on August 8, 2025 in Dan Lafous, Mont Plaisir, in the Anse Royale district. The ceremony took place in the presence of President Wavel Ramkalawan and the Minister of Transport, Antony Derjacques.
This project, which cost 3.9 million Seychellois rupees (265 thousand USD), was carried out by the company Dubai Civil Engineering and Construction. The initiative responds to a long-standing demand from residents for safer and more convenient access to vehicles.
The project took shape after the president’s visits in 2023, when he noted the transportation difficulties in the area. The road is 165 meters long and 5 meters wide. Twelve street lights were installed to increase security, especially at night.
Minister Derjacques affirmed that the government wants to improve the lives of all communities, even in places that are difficult to access. The Head of State thanked the teams for their work and encouraged other districts to facilitate access to easements to enable future projects. The ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by Vice President Ahmed Afif, members of the National Assembly, officials from the Ministry of Transport, the Seychelles Land Transport Agency (SLTA), company representatives and residents.
