An educational campaign to better understand marine life
The Terra Group has signed a three-year partnership with the Odysseo Foundation. Each year, Terra will donate 2 million rupees (43,000 USD) to help protect and restore Mauritius’ marine and coastal ecosystems.
Frédérique Perpétu, the company’s Sustainable Development Manager, explains: “Our oceans and coasts are very important for life, for stopping erosion, and for tourism. With this project, we want to take action on ecological issues and encourage our employees to participate.” The organization also works with other companies such as Rogers and Eclosia to have a greater impact.
To raise public awareness, the organization collaborates with the NGO Reef Conservation. The latter uses its educational caravan called Bis La Mer. Through it, people can learn how coral reefs function, why they are important, and how to protect them.
The first awareness sessions took place in June 2025 at several Terra Group sites. Others are planned for July. At the end, participants will be able to visit the Odysseo Oceanarium with free tickets. In addition, more than 400 children helped by NGOs in the north of the island will also be able to discover the oceanarium thanks to the company’s support. “We all depend on the health of the oceans and coasts. If these environments disappear, it will affect our environment, our economy, and our daily lives,” added the manager.
