Public officials honored for their contribution to local development

35 Years of Service Celebrated at an Official Evening

Seventeen public servants were honored at the annual awards ceremony of the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, held on July 25, 2025, at the Savoy Resort and Spa.

The President of the Republic, Wavel Ramkalawan, accompanied by First Lady Linda Ramkalawan, attended this ceremony as guest of honor. The presence of ministerial officials and staff served as an opportunity to highlight the importance of the work accomplished by the distinguished public servants. The recipients have between five and thirty-five years of service. Maryse Mederic, Head of Archives, was particularly honored for her thirty-five years of commitment.

A shield was presented by the Head of State, accompanied by a bouquet offered by the First Lady, as well as a certificate of appreciation presented by Minister Rose-Marie Hoareau. Monetary awards were presented by Chief Secretary Shella Mohideen.

Minister Rose-Marie Hoareau’s speech emphasized that this ceremony is a moment of collective gratitude and reflection on the achievements made. “The dedication of civil servants is recognized as an essential pillar to the success of the Ministry’s missions, with the hope of continued commitment,” she stated. In addition, three employees were congratulated for completing advanced professional training. Elsia Maria completed a course in strategic public relations, while Gina Cesar and Antonia Cherry participated in an international program in India focused on leadership.
