A new platform to rethink leadership in Mauritius

Around thirty executives and business leaders gathered on August 7, 2025, for the launch of the MIoD Expert Series by the Mauritius Institute of Directors (MIoD).

This new platform allows managers to interact directly with an expert on strategic and concrete themes. The first edition, organized with Mauritius Telecom, had the theme: “From Goodwill to Growth: Strategies for a Better Tomorrow”. The keynote speaker was Veemal Gungadin, CEO of Mauritius Telecom and author of the book *Goodwill-Led Growth*. The platform is distinguished from traditional conferences by its intimate and interactive format.

The format encourages direct exchanges and in-depth discussions on leadership and governance. Sheila Ujoodha, CEO of MIoD, said, “The MIoD Expert Series provides a strategic break from our busy schedules. This moment allows us to reflect on our way of leading and to be inspired by those who innovate in leadership.”

For Veemal Gungadin, benevolence, trust and human relations must guide modern governance. Leadership is about inspiring sustainably and not just about achieving goals*. “This initiative invites leaders to slow down to think better and reminds us that it is human values, and not just numbers, that make it possible to build solid and sustainable organizations” he added. The MIoD Expert Series thus opens a space to rethink leadership, promote responsible practices and promote more human and resilient organizations. Other editions are planned to explore new perspectives and continue to inspire Mauritian leaders.
