Madagascar – Dubai: Business forum launches sustainable cooperation

A New Era of Economic Partnerships

On May 27 and 28, 2025, Madagascar will showcase its economic strengths in the United Arab Emirates at the very first edition of the “Madagascar – Dubai Business Forum,” organized by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce.

Sixty Malagasy companies from key sectors such as agribusiness, telecommunications, finance, industry, and tourism will be present to explore new investment opportunities and build partnerships.

President Andry Rajoelina, leading a delegation, emphasized the strategic importance of this forum in strengthening bilateral economic relations. The Head of State emphasized that Madagascar is “under construction” throughout its territory, from north to south. The country needs technical and financial investors to develop its infrastructure: highways, bridges, housing, special economic zones, and modern transportation.

Dubai Chamber officials, including Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori and Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, reaffirmed their commitment to supporting cooperation with the Big Island. A country whose non-oil trade with Dubai is expected to increase by 90% by 2024. This momentum is reinforced by the announcement of upcoming direct Emirates Airlines flights to Antananarivo.

Among the major agreements announced, a collaboration with Masdar, an Emirati company specializing in renewable energy, includes the installation of 150 MW of solar power in Madagascar. This project adds to the 100 MW already planned by the government by the end of the year.
