Mauritius – UAE: Opportunity for Emirate Businesses

Investment and cooperation: Mauritius and the UAE strengthen ties

Investment opportunities between Mauritius and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were at the center of the discussions on February 18 in Port Louis.

Humaid Mohamed Ben Salem, Secretary General of the UAE Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, met with Aadil Ameer Meea, Minister of Industry, SMEs and Cooperatives. During this meeting, the two parties explored avenues for collaboration. The aim is to support local SMEs and cooperatives. In addition, the joint projections help identify investment opportunities in Mauritius’ manufacturing sector.

The Minister encouraged Emirati businesses to establish partnerships in Mauritius. Promising sectors include pharmacy, medical equipment, precision engineering and food processing. Investors are invited to seize Mauritius’ potential.

The UAE delegation, led by the SG, is composed of officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Economy. In addition, representatives of companies such as Etihad Airways and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company are part of the delegation. The visit, which runs from 16 to 21 February, follows the signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in July 2024.
