Vivo Energy and UoM Bring Students and Professionals Together

Mauritius students now benefit from new opportunities thanks to a partnership signed between the University of Mauritius (UoM) and Vivo Energy Mauritius.

The objective is to bring academia closer to the industry and offer young people real-world experiences to develop their skills.

The agreement includes several initiatives to stimulate collaboration and foster innovation.

Vivo Energy will sponsor the inaugural Engineering Student Award to recognize academic excellence and student engagement. The company’s experts will participate in classes, lead practical workshops, and supervise applied research projects. These activities will enable students to better understand professional requirements and develop ideas tailored to the energy sector.

Stan Mittelman, CEO of the company, emphasizes that the company’s success depends as much on human skills as on infrastructure or products. “Investing in the training of young talent and supporting innovation is a priority to contribute to local communities,” he announced.

For his part, Fouad Khfifi, Managing Director in Mauritius, emphasized the need to prepare the next generation of engineers and strengthen ties between universities and industry. He emphasized that economic development depends on the skills and ambitions of young people.

The University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sobhee, welcomed the partnership, stating that it provides future engineers with practical experience and concrete perspectives to adapt to the realities of the job market.

Through this collaboration, both parties are laying the foundations for a more dynamic and professional training program capable of providing students with skills directly applicable to the energy sector, while stimulating innovation and the engagement of young Mauritians.
