TICAD-9: Industry at the heart of Madagascar’s strategy

Ntsay Christian calls for strengthening cooperation between Madagascar and Japan

The development of cooperation focused on industry, the transformation of mining and agricultural resources, and technological innovation was highlighted by Prime Minister Ntsay Christian at the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD-9).

He emphasized that the two countries must strengthen their ties through a strategic approach to support the country’s growth.

In his speech, the Head of Government thanked Japan, the African Union, and various partners for providing a space for exchanges and joint work in the service of Africa. According to him, “this TICAD represents a new stage in cooperation with Japan and offers great opportunities for African nations.”
For the Big Island, several areas are concerned. The country wants to accelerate its industrialization, attract investment in renewable energy, and modernize its transportation infrastructure and ports. The Prime Minister also emphasized the sharing of expertise in promising sectors, such as artificial intelligence.

Beyond economic aspects, Ntsay Christian reiterated that human development remains a priority. Education, training, and employment for youth and women must be strengthened, as they bring new energy to the country’s development.
“Sustainable cooperation, based on mutual trust and common interest, is the key to building a solid model of economic collaboration between Africa and Japan,” he affirmed.
