La Tika has completed 173 projects in the Comoros since 2017

A New beginning for cooperation

Since opening its office in Moroni in 2017, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (Tika) has completed approximately 173 projects in the Comoros.

These include the construction of a stadium in Ndzuani, the renovation of the National Center for Documentation and Scientific Research, support for agriculture, and training for Comorian firefighters. The arrival of Gisayeddin Karateps, the new Coordinator in Moroni, marks a new beginning for this cooperation. Tika is a Turkish public institution that works closely with local authorities. “We are not an NGO. We carry out our projects with the Comorian authorities, respecting their priorities,” he explained.

After a hiatus due to Covid-19, TIKA is resuming its activities, with a renewed focus on education. The coordinator aims to develop school, university, and vocational education. Young Comorians will be able to travel to Turkey for training, while Turkish trainers will come to the Comoros to train technicians and teachers. The cooperation will also extend to scientific research institutions, social services for women and people with disabilities, and religious education in Quranic schools. “I visited several Quranic schools and the Association for Down Syndrome. We will look for ways to help them,” the official added.
