Four Areas to Boost the Comorian Economy
Discussions between the new Chinese Ambassador to the Comoros, Huang Zheng, and the Comorian authorities focused on strengthening cooperation in agriculture and fisheries, with the aim of supporting the country’s socioeconomic growth and sustainable development.
During his visit to the Ministry of Agriculture, the Chinese diplomat met with Minister Daniel Ali Bandar, in the presence of the Embassy’s First Counselor, Meng Yuhong. The two parties identified four priority areas: sustainable agricultural development, enhancing the value of fisheries resources, promoting and exporting cash crops, and establishing technical and financial cooperation in these sectors.
Huang Zheng reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting the Comoros in its poverty reduction plan by supporting local initiatives. “China is keen to deepen the strategic partnership with the Comoros and contribute to the well-being of our people,” he said.
For his part, Minister Daniel Ali Bandar welcomed China’s continued support and emphasized the importance of strengthening the training of the ministry’s technicians. The latter proposed long-term programs to improve national productivity and support rural populations.
These discussions follow a meeting on August 18 between Ambassador Huang Zheng and Houmed Msaidie, Special Advisor to the President. Discussions focused on bilateral cooperation in agriculture, fisheries, and environmental protection. Houmed Msaidie expressed his desire to strengthen the Sino-Comorian partnership, particularly in agriculture, tourism, and handicrafts.
