Comoros – Turkey: A new partnership to strengthen diplomacy

Strengthened Collaboration within the Framework of the Smart City Project

A new partnership between the Comoros and Turkey is in preparation. The project was presented at the Council of Ministers on June 19, 2025, chaired by the Head of State, Azali Assoumani, at the Beit Salam Palace.

According to government spokesperson Fatima Ahamada, this partnership primarily concerns foreign affairs. “This project aims to enable the exchange of experiences and best practices between the two countries, particularly in the field of diplomacy.

The agreement also provides for better coordination of foreign policies,” she stated. The government accepted this proposal, put forward by Mbae Mohamed, Comorian Minister of Foreign Affairs. Turkey, already present in Africa in several areas, could thus become an important partner for the Comoros.

This rapprochement demonstrates the country’s desire to diversify its international relations and strengthen its position on the diplomatic scene. Furthermore, the Minister has requested the reclamation of the former national police building, located near his ministry. He wants to relocate his services there in order to have more space and better working conditions.
