Inauguration of the PBC Core Banking System

The new banking management system unveiled

The People’s Bank of the Comoros (PBOC) is launching its new, next-generation Core Banking Information System, implemented in collaboration with Carthago. The ceremony took place in the conference room of the former National Post and Financial Services Corporation (SNPSF).

The system incorporates several key modules, including account management, payments, lending, accounting and anti-money laundering. Hayatti Hamadi Soule, director of the PBOC, said that “this innovation represents a significant step forward for the bank, which will be able to respond more effectively to the expectations of its clients ».

With this new system, customers will be able to transact directly with their credit cards, withdraw money without checkbooks and access various services that improve their daily lives. PBOC Board Chair Ali Hadji Mmadi said, « This transformation brings increased operational efficiency, better data management and an optimized customer experience ». In addition, he also referred to the smooth merging of banking and accounting activities, which had previously been compartmentalized in the old system.

« Now all you need to do to get money out of the ATMs is to show your national card », the PCA said, reassuring that this change would better meet customers’ needs. Speakers at the ceremony unanimously praised the importance of this digital transformation, not only for the PBOC, but also for the entire Comorian banking sector.
