Agricultural pride at the International Agricultural Show
La Production Locale Réunie (PLR) represents La Réunion from February 22 to March 2, 2025 at the 61st Salon International de l’Agriculture in Paris.
For the fourth year running, the island’s agricultural and agri-food sectors will be united under one banner. The aim is to promote a single, structured and sustainable agricultural model, which is essential to the equilibrium of Reunion.
The event will be an opportunity to highlight the diversity and quality of local products, while reaffirming the commitment of local actors to sustainable development. Representatives of the island’s main agricultural sectors, including fruit and vegetables, livestock, fisheries, sugar and agro-industry, will be present to defend their interests with national and European partners.
« The Fair is an ideal platform to showcase the excellence of our agricultural model and draw attention to the challenges we face », says the PLR spokesperson. These challenges include the preservation of agricultural land, the fight against phytosanitary impasses and unfair competition from foreign products.
The stakes are many, ranging from support for sustainable agriculture and the renewal of the fishing fleet for decarbonization, to assisting local producers in developing sectors of excellence. With the new European Commission and the renewal of the Chamber of Agriculture, the PLR also sets out the importance of preserving the island’s food sovereignty in the face of an increasingly uncertain global context. Through this fair, the region reaffirms its commitment to a balanced agricultural future, creating jobs and added value, at the service of its sustainable development.
