Madagascar Promotes its Local Industries
The 7th edition of the International Agricultural Fair (FIA) and the first edition of the Madagascar International Gastronomy Festival (FIG) opened their doors on September 3 at the Ivato International Conference Center (CCI).
For four days, more than 300 booths will welcome producers, traders, and food industry stakeholders to showcase their products and expertise.
In the fisheries sector, the FIA promotes exchanges between fish farmers, young fish producers, traders, and consumers, particularly restaurateurs. According to Mahatante Paubert, Minister of Fisheries and the Blue Economy, the event allows each participant to showcase their achievements and products. AMPA, the agency responsible for fisheries and aquaculture, brings together and guides fishermen to professionalize the sector and improve its performance.
The official opening brought together several ministers, senior government officials, and stakeholders from the agricultural and gastronomic worlds. David Ralambofiringa, Minister of Industry and Trade, emphasized the links between agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and industrial development. “No product can be processed or sold in industries without available raw materials. Madagascar has a wide variety of raw materials. It remains essential to reduce imports and increase local production,” he said.
François Sergio Hajarison, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, stated that the FIA is a platform that connects all stakeholders, from producers to processors, researchers, and public partners. “Since the first edition, the Ministry has supported this event to promote agricultural projects and strengthen exchanges between participants,” he added.
