This mining project could boost the local economy and strengthen Morocco’s export capacity in a strategic sector, while contributing to securing global supply chains for critical minerals.
Steadright Acquires Major Stake in TitanBeach
The Canadian company Steadright Critical Minerals has signed a letter of intent to acquire up to 80% of the TitanBeach mining project, located on the Atlantic coast of Morocco in the Cap Juby region. This project covers an area of 160 km² of coastal sands rich in titanium dioxide, a mineral classified as strategic on an international scale.
A Deposit with Promising Grades
Sampling conducted in 2023 revealed significant concentrations, with 42% iron and 4.7% titanium in the alluvial sands. These results are currently being confirmed through further analyses as part of a geological study compliant with the Canadian NI 43-101 standard, ensuring data transparency and reliability.
A Critical Mineral in a Tense Geopolitical Context
Titanium dioxide, extracted in the form of rutile or ilmenite, is recognized as a critical mineral by Canada, the United States, and the European Union. Its industrial applications are numerous, notably in pigment manufacturing, metal alloys, as well as in the aerospace and defense sectors. Global demand for this mineral is rapidly increasing, driven by geopolitical tensions and the desire to diversify supply sources beyond China, which currently dominates the market.
An Attractive Regulatory Framework for Investors
Morocco offers a competitive mining regime, including a tax exemption on profits for the first five years of production, attracting more and more foreign investors to the critical minerals sector. Steadright thus highlights the remarkable potential of the TitanBeach sands and the quality of Morocco’s investment environment.
Economic and Environmental Prospects
An upcoming in-depth study will validate the economic and environmental viability of the project. The conversion of exploration licenses into production permits will depend on the results of this work. This project could boost the local economy and strengthen Morocco’s export capacity in a strategic sector while contributing to securing global supply chains for critical minerals.
Steadright’s Geographic Diversification Strategy
Alongside its establishment in Morocco, Steadright is also developing a mining project in Quebec, demonstrating its ambition to build a balanced portfolio between North America and Africa to meet the growing demand from green industries and new technologies.
