Luca Monge Roffarello officially took up his duties as UNDP Resident Representative in the Comoros on Monday, September 15, after arriving in Moroni on September 12. An economist by training, he has 26 years of experience within the United Nations system. His career began in 1999 in Geneva at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
As a Senior Economist and UNDP Chief, he has served in several African countries, including Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, Equatorial Guinea, and Cape Verde. For 16 years, the official advised on sustainable development policies and economic transformation, integrating the Sustainable Development Goals to strengthen UNDP and UN strategies.
Recognized for its expertise and commitment, this new direction aims to support inclusive and sustainable development in the Comoros, continuing the efforts of its predecessors and consolidating the organization’s presence in the archipelago.
