Proven Methods for Building Solid Growth
The Big Island is drawing inspiration from the Singaporean model to accelerate its sustainable development. On August 27, 2025, as part of the Singapore–Africa Ministerial Exchange Visit (SAMEV), Rasata Rafaravavitafika, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with the Prime Minister of Singapore alongside her African counterparts.
Discussions focused on urban planning, governance, economic policy, the fight against corruption, as well as the monetary and financial strategies that have underpinned Singapore’s success.
Under the leadership of President Andry Rajoelina, Madagascar aims to strengthen its reforms and build a sustainable economy that serves its citizens. Singapore, celebrating its 60th anniversary of independence, illustrates a trajectory of rapid growth and collective success.
During her visit, the Malagasy Minister visited the Port of Singapore Authority (PSA) terminal, recognized as one of the most efficient in the world. The latter was able to observe Singaporean methods in port management, modern logistics, and sustainable development, including initiatives to reduce carbon footprints and optimize international trade.
For Madagascar, an island country with strategic ports, this experience represents a major opportunity. The knowledge gained could be used to improve maritime management, modernize supply chains, and develop efficient and environmentally friendly port infrastructure.
