Saint-André: Renovated and connected roads

EUR 8 million for safer roads

The City of Saint-André has launched a neighborhood road resurfacing program, with a budget of over EUR 8 million for 2025.

Work will begin in September. Several roads have already been rehabilitated: Rio, Emile Thomas, Payet, Oratoire, Terre Rouge, and soon Chemin des Prêtres.
To better plan this work, the municipality presented a new road diagnostic solution on August 20th, developed with Geoptis, a subsidiary of the La Poste Group. This technology will provide accurate and comprehensive mapping of road conditions starting in September.
The Mayor of Saint-André, Joé Bédier, was present to see how this system works. He explained that this tool will help the city organize interventions, targeting the roads most damaged by age and weather.

“After long being criticized for the condition of its roads, Saint-André has completed significant work and is now adopting modern solutions to meet residents’ expectations,” he said.
This technology complements existing systems: the VRD patrol, responsible for monitoring the roads, and the Saint-André 974 citizen app, which allows residents to directly report anomalies.
“With these tools and the upcoming work, the city is taking a new step in maintaining its road network. Digital mapping will help quickly identify areas in need of repair and better use available resources,” the Mayor added.
