Dr. Gervais ATTA appointed President of the SADC Business Council

Dr. Gervais ATTA has been appointed President of the SADC Business Council for the 2025-2026 term. The Madagascar Business Association (GEM), which he represents, welcomes this appointment with great enthusiasm.

This decision strengthens Madagascar’s presence in economic exchanges between the countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). The SADC Business Council brings together private sector leaders from 16 countries, with the mission of fostering economic cooperation and attracting investment to the region.

Holding a PhD in international economics from the Catholic University of Madagascar (ICM), the expert has also completed training at the École supérieure de banque de Paris, the Sorbonne Business School, and Georgetown University in the United States. After beginning his career at Canal+ Horizons, the new manager held several positions in banks in Côte d’Ivoire and Madagascar. At the Comoros Development Bank, a key milestone was the launch of the HOLO mobile banking service. Since 2023, Dr. ATTA has headed AFG Bank Madagascar.
