Launch of the Maternal and Child Health Program in Mbudadju ya Bambao
On July 12, 2025, a special day was organized in Mbudadju ya Bambao, Comoros. This initiative was led by Rotaract Moroni and the Rotary Club of Moroni, with the support of the mobile clinic, the Federation of Midwives, and the Ibl Comores association.
During this day, pregnant women and new mothers benefited from free medical consultations, screenings, and health advice. This initiative is part of the “Maternal and Child Health” program, which aims to improve the well-being of mothers and their babies. The day concluded with a visit to the maternity ward of El-Maarouf Hospital. There, medical kits were offered to pregnant women and newborns hospitalized there.
This gesture aims to help patients and support the work of caregivers. The Rotary Club of Moroni also announced the creation of a group of 60 midwives. These professionals will be equipped and trained to better support mothers, especially in hard-to-reach areas.
Ali Mfoungoulie Nilda, President of Rotaract Moroni, expressed her joy at this initiative. She thanked everyone who participated, including the mobile clinic team and the midwives’ federation. “It’s important to work both in hospitals and in rural areas to help women,” she said. This day also marked the official launch of the “Maternal and Child Health” program. This project was made possible thanks to a fundraiser organized in early July at the Alliance Française de Moroni. Ali Mfoungoulie Nilda emphasized that this is only the beginning. “We hope to continue this initiative over time and welcome all support,” she said.
