SIiacom 2025: a vibrant tribute to Comorian craftsmanship

Promotion and exchange at the heart of the 6th Comoros International Crafts Fair

The sixth Comoros International Crafts Fair (SIIACOM) closed at the People’s Palace in Moroni with a colorful gala evening. A fashion show, titled “2nd Night of Artisans,” enlivened the final ceremony with creativity and brilliance.

This event brought together artisans from the region, Africa, and other continents. Comorian President Azali Assoumani served as patron, represented by the Minister of Regional Planning, Chekidine Said Madi. To mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Comoros’ independence, this edition showcased the country’s rich culture and craftsmanship. Several days of exhibitions provided an opportunity to discover creations combining ancestral traditions and modern inspirations.

Rahamatou Goulam, Director of the Comorian National Crafts Center, emphasized the importance of this sector as a source of heritage and a driver of sustainable development for young people. The fair also served as a space for exchange and the transmission of expertise. Among the guests, Gsele Mafueme, from Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, appreciated the warm welcome and the quality of the works on display. Parallel exhibitions were organized on the islands of Ndzuani and Mwali, extending the event’s reach to the entire archipelago.
