Connected farmers: Comoros goes digital

A website for farmers

The launch of the agricultural high school and the national fishing school marks a significant change for farmers, livestock producers, and fishermen in the Comoros.

To take this further, the Union of Chambers of Agriculture, Livestock Production, and Fisheries (Ucaep) signed an agreement with the National Agency for Digital Development (Anaden) on June 26, 2025. The two institutions will work together to create a digital platform. This website will bring together all data from the agriculture, livestock production, and fishing sectors. The goal is to better organize information, monitor producers, and, above all, connect them to markets.

“This project will help us enter the digital age. We will be able to better support producers and promote their products,” explained Abdillah M’saidie, President of UCAEP. He also hopes that the country will open a veterinary school in the coming years to further strengthen rural sectors. Thanks to the platform, farmers will have access to useful information and will be able to sell their products online.

This will facilitate market access, especially in rural areas. For his part, the Director General of ANADEN, Said Mouinou Ahamada, welcomed this initiative. According to him, “digital technology can help producers throughout the chain, from production to sale.” The Director General also spoke about quality and product traceability, and the importance of food sovereignty. This partnership demonstrates that the Comoros is committed to modernizing its production sectors. Education and technology are becoming key tools to help farmers produce better, sell better, and live better.
