Digital Technology at the Heart of Industrial Recovery
Modernizing production, reducing costs, and preparing for the future: these are the ambitions set out in the 2025–2026 Budget.
This plan includes several key measures, such as the creation of the National Research and Innovation Institute, increased support for artificial intelligence startups, and tax breaks for technology investments by small and medium-sized enterprises. In line with this vision, a workshop entitled Production 4.0 Project opened on June 24, 2025, at the Docks in Port-Louis. This initiative aims to support manufacturing companies in their transition to cutting-edge technologies.
The event was officially opened by the Minister for Gender Equality and Family Affairs, representing the Minister of Industry, SMEs, and Cooperatives. This session featured two internationally renowned consultants from ROI-EFESO Management Consulting AG (Germany), Dr. Uwe Steinkoetter and Svyatoslav Funtikov.
Around the table were approximately 75 participants and some twenty companies from various sectors. The workshop addressed several key innovations: smart factory systems, lean management, robotics, the metaverse, and the Digital Twin, with virtual reality demonstrations. Faced with current challenges such as labor shortages and rising costs, the digital transition is becoming a necessity.
The 2025–2029 Digital Transformation Plan is part of this dynamic, with objectives to improve competitiveness, modernize production, and create a culture of innovation. Institutions such as the Industrial Finance Corporation of Mauritius Ltd and the Development Bank of Mauritius Ltd already provide financing facilities to support companies in this change.
