Philip Mitchell: new Executive President of Aura Energy in Mauritania

Philip Mitchell has been appointed Executive Chairman of Aura Energy, at a key moment for the Australian company developing the Tiris project, Mauritania’s first uranium mine.

A former executive at Rio Tinto and Anglo American, he previously held the position of Non-Executive Chairman. His promotion aims to strengthen management during the critical phase of raising the USD 230 million required for the final investment decision (FID), expected by the end of 2025.

With decades of experience in the mining sector, Philip Mitchell is recognized for his expertise in project finance, strategic development, and corporate governance. His appointment as the group’s operational head is expected to accelerate the financial and technical structuring of the Tiris project.
