Comorian crafts celebrate 50 years in grand celebration
To celebrate 50 years of independence, the Comoros will host the sixth edition of the International Crafts Fair (SIACOM) from July 7 to 9, 2025.
This event will be held across the country’s three islands, with major exhibitions at the People’s Palace, announced Rahamatou Goulam, Director General of the Comorian National Crafts Center (CNAC). This year’s theme is: “Promoting Crafts to Encourage Young Entrepreneurs.” The fair will bring together artisans, institutions, partners, and visitors from the Comoros and other countries.
The program will include training in sewing, recycling, and the manufacture of school supplies throughout the islands. Several competitions are also planned: fashion, wood carving, embroidery, and artistic recycling.
Traditional activities and spaces for discussing the development of crafts will also be featured. On July 7, a replica of the Comoros Pavilion for Expo 2025 Osaka will be inaugurated at the CNAC, under the chairmanship of Azali Assoumani. This international exhibition, which will take place in Japan from April to October 2025, will provide a wonderful opportunity to showcase Comorian expertise on a global scale.
