10 million USD to train and support young people in agriculture

Force-Jeunes is part of the Comoros Emerging Plan to boost the rural economy

The President of the Comoros, Azali Assoumani, officially launched “Force-Jeunes” in Dar Nadjah, on the island of Ndzuani. This initiative aims to support rural residents in their training and business development, particularly in agriculture, livestock farming, and fishing.

This program receives USD 10 million in funding over seven years from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). It succeeds the Prefer program, which is coming to an end. “Force-Jeunes” provides technical training and financial support in the form of grants for entrepreneurial initiatives. The Head of State emphasized the importance of agriculture for the country.

Better exploitation of fertile land, the favorable climate, and, above all, the vitality of new generations are major assets. This action represents a great opportunity to develop this sector and strengthen national food autonomy.

This program is part of the Emerging Comoros Plan (ECP). More than 6,000 beneficiaries from 4,000 families in difficulty, spread across 66 villages across the three islands, will benefit from this support. Gender parity is respected throughout the operation. The Governor of Ndzuani, Dr. Zaidou Youssouf, expressed his support and assured that his administration remains open to ideas. The Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Daniel Bandar, reiterated that this initiative is part of a larger national strategy.
