Eve Island Welcomes a Boat Station
A new maritime refueling station was inaugurated on June 6 on Eve Island, in Praslin, by the President of Seychelles, Wavel Ramkalawan. This station will allow fishing boats and commercial vessels to refuel more easily. It is an important step forward to support the local economy and maritime transport.
The General Manager of Seychelles Petroleum Company (SEYPEC), Sarah Romain, explained that this infrastructure guarantees a reliable fuel supply for the entire region. The Principal Minister, Jean-François Ferrari, responsible for Fisheries and the Blue Economy, emphasized that the government continues to modernize infrastructure to support the blue economy. The strong teamwork between SEYPEC and the authorities was highlighted as a key to success.
Festive moments marked the ceremony, including a musical performance by local artist Ziggy Adam. The President of the Praslin Fishermen’s Association, Darel Green, thanked the government on behalf of the fishermen. Thanks to this station, refueling will be faster and simpler.
The vessel Eloy was the first to receive fuel in a symbolic gesture carried out by the President and SEYPEC’s Operations Director, Ray Hoareau. The visit concluded with a meeting with the staff at the Praslin depot. A gas cylinder was signed, as tradition dictates, to mark this special day.
