Madagascar highlights its assets at the African energy summit

The Malagasy Energy Sector at the Heart of International Discussions

On May 18, 2025, Madagascar participated in the Africa Energies Summit 2025, a major international event held in London, United Kingdom. This summit brought together decision-makers, experts, and investors from the African energy sector to discuss opportunities in this field.

The Malagasy delegation was led by Nantenaina Rasolonirina, Director General of OMNIS, along with representatives from the Ministry of Mines and Strategic Resources. From the first day, the island stood out thanks to the “Madagascar Showcase” presented by Rasolonirina. He explained why it is attractive to invest in the country, which boasts significant oil and gas resources. The Director General also discussed Madagascar’s strategic location in the Indian Ocean and the government’s desire to revive oil exploration.

During the summit, several discussions brought together government officials and representatives to strengthen cooperation and improve the management of Madagascar’s energy sector. Participants also discussed ways to attract more foreign investors.

Participating in this summit is important for the country. “It allows us to better understand the market, learn from other African countries, and discover the best ways to develop the energy sector,” added the Director General.
