Towards Better Rural Mobility
As part of the “Connect Madagascar for Inclusive Growth” program, a Mauritian engineering firm has been appointed to supervise major roadworks on the island. Luxconsult (Mtius) Limited is thus part of this presidential project with a budget of over USD 400 million.
On April 29, Luxconsult was officially hired to supervise urgent works on three sections of National Roads 4 and 6. This contract comes a few months after the work was awarded to two industry giants: the French company Colas, a subsidiary of the Bouygues group, and the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC). The latter are responsible for carrying out works worth a combined total of over €30 million.
Luxconsult, led by Mauritian engineers and businessmen including Neermal Gowreesunker and Devindranathsing Hurpaul, and supervised by the Luxembourg office Luxconsult SA, will be responsible for ensuring the proper execution of the projects. The office has a budget of USD 2.5 million for this monitoring, with a deadline of eleven months to complete its commitments.
Launched in 2022, the “Connect Madagascar for Inclusive Growth” program aims to improve the connectivity and management of main roads, particularly in rural areas. The objective is to provide better access to social and economic opportunities for remote populations, thereby strengthening the resilience of road infrastructure.
This project is in line with President Andry Rajoelina’s vision to stimulate Madagascar’s sustainable development through modern, high-performance infrastructure, with final delivery scheduled for 2028.
