Financial support for Mayotte farmers

Payments scheduled from 12 March 2025

Farms affected by Cyclone Chido in Mayotte can apply for aid until 9 May 2025. In fact, two systems have been set up to compensate them.

The first is the overseas relief fund (FSOM), agricultural disaster component, managed by the Ministry of Overseas Territories. The second is an exceptional aid scheme intended for Mayotte farms and under the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty.

The MSA of Armorique, responsible for the social protection of Mayotte farmers, announces that payments will begin on 12 March 2025. Thus, a total amount of 268,400 EUR will be distributed. In concrete terms, each farmer affiliated to the Mutualité Sociale Agricole (MSA) will receive 200 EUR. This aid will finance protective equipment or small equipment needed to resume agricultural activities. In total, 1,342 farmers will benefit from this aid.

In addition, the MSA has already paid 1,000 EUR to each farmer on 15 January to meet urgent needs. Consequently, this aid complements the financial support provided to farmers.

A social measure has also been put in place. Indeed, it allows, until 30 June 2025, to suspend the payment of social security contributions for farmers while maintaining their social rights and benefits, even without renewing their application.
