Malagasy Agriculture Enters a New Era

30 tons of organic fertilizer per day will be produced at the new Belalanda plant in Toliara.

Built in just six weeks, this plant supports the government’s efforts to modernize agriculture and facilitate farmers’ access to quality fertilizers at affordable prices. The project is the result of a partnership between Madagascar and the United Arab Emirates, signed in Abu Dhabi. Thanks to this cooperation, farmers will soon have easier access to fertilizers, which are essential for improving the country’s productivity and food security.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock explains that these fertilizers are made from bat guano, a natural and environmentally friendly material. This type of fertilizer helps preserve soil health and promotes sustainable production.

Distribution points will be established in major agricultural areas of the country, including Bas-Mangoky, Ambatondrazaka, and Marovoay. The goal is to bring products closer to farmers and reduce transportation costs.

The President of the Refoundation of the Republic of Madagascar, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, reiterated that the government remains attentive to the needs of farmers. He emphasized the importance of training and support to strengthen their skills and improve their yields.

Furthermore, the project will create new economic opportunities. Partnerships with farmers and private companies will provide the raw materials necessary for production. This will bring additional income to rural families and promote local employment.
