Airtel Money surpasses 54 million customers in Africa

A Year of Record Performance

Airtel Money, the mobile financial service, continues its expansion with 54.1 million customers, representing a 21.3% year-over-year increase, according to the annual results published by Airtel Africa for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, announced on May 8, 2026.

This growth is accompanied by a significant increase in transactions, the annual value of which now exceeds $215 billion, a 49% increase.

The group also recorded overall customer growth, reaching 183.5 million users, a 10.5% year-over-year increase. The data segment continues to expand, driven by the growing use of smartphones and mobile internet. Average consumption per user reached 8.9 GB per month.

Financially, Airtel Africa reported revenue of $6.4 billion, a 24% increase at constant exchange rates. Underlying EBITDA also increased, reaching $3.16 billion with a record margin of 49.3%. Net income amounted to $813 million, compared to $328 million a year earlier.

Investments totaled $884 million, enabling network strengthening and expanded coverage in several markets. The group is thus continuing its strategy focused on digital technology, connectivity, and financial inclusion in Africa.
