Bien que cette source d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie pr\u00e9sente des avantages environnementaux, s\u00e9curitaires et \u00e9conomiques, son adoption en Afrique fait face \u00e0 plusieurs d\u00e9fis.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/notion_attachments\/76135\/file1717963225666609d9383c8remedier-a-la-crise-energetique-le-recours-au-nucleaire-976x549-graphe_blog_rectangle_web-fr.webp\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Potentiel nucl\u00e9aire pour combler le d\u00e9ficit \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique<\/h2>\n<p>La Banque africaine de d\u00e9veloppement (BAD) estime que pr\u00e8s de 640 millions d\u2019habitants d\u2019Afrique n\u2019acc\u00e8dent pas \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9. Si aucun effort en mati\u00e8re de d\u00e9veloppement d\u2019infrastructures \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques n\u2019est entrepris \u00e0 temps, cette proportion pourrait s\u2019aggraver d\u2019ici 2030. La Commission africaine de l\u2019\u00e9nergie (CAE), une agence sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e de l\u2019UA, sugg\u00e8re que le recours au nucl\u00e9aire peut combler ce d\u00e9ficit \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique sur le continent.<\/p>\n<h3>Production d\u2019uranium en Afrique<\/h3>\n<p><b>L\u2019Afrique dispose d\u2019un potentiel important en mati\u00e8re d\u2019\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire<\/b>, notamment gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ses abondantes ressources en uranium. Selon les donn\u00e9es de 2022 de l\u2019Association nucl\u00e9aire mondiale, quatre pays africains se distinguent comme principaux producteurs de ce min\u00e9ral.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><u>Namibie<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>La Namibie se distingue en tant que premier producteur africain d&rsquo;uranium et occupe la troisi\u00e8me place mondiale avec ses 5 613 tonnes en 2022. En 2013, sa production s\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ve \u00e0 4 323 tonnes, marquant ainsi une augmentation remarquable de 1 290 tonnes en neuf ans.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><u>Niger<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Deuxi\u00e8me plus grand producteur d\u2019uranium en Afrique, le Niger se positionne en septi\u00e8me place mondiale avec ses 2 020 tonnes en 2022. Toutefois, le pays affiche une r\u00e9cession, car en 2013, le pays \u00e9tait en t\u00eate du classement en enregistrant 4 518 tonnes d\u2019uranium.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><u>Afrique du Sud<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>L\u2019Afrique du Sud cl\u00f4ture le top 10 de ce classement avec une quantit\u00e9 de\u00a0 200 tonnes. Bien que cette performance soit nettement inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 celle des autres pays africains, la nation arc-en-ciel est la seule \u00e0 poss\u00e9der une centrale nucl\u00e9aire.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><u>Malawi<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Le Malawi occupe la deuxi\u00e8me position du classement mondial des producteurs d&rsquo;uranium de l\u2019Association mondiale nucl\u00e9aire. Cependant, aucun chiffre n\u2019est disponible pour la production malawienne de 2015 \u00e0 2022. La nation doit sa place dans ce classement \u00e0 sa production \u00e9lev\u00e9e en 2013, qui s&rsquo;\u00e9levait \u00e0 1 132 tonnes.<\/p>\n<h2>\u00c9nergie propre : Faibles \u00e9missions de gaz \u00e0 effet de serre<\/h2>\n<p>L&rsquo;\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire, bien que propre et \u00e0 faible \u00e9mission de carbone, n&rsquo;est pas renouvelable. L&rsquo;Agence internationale de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie atomique (AIEA) affirme que cette ressource permet d&rsquo;\u00e9viter plus de 70 gigatonnes d\u2019\u00e9missions de carbone au cours des cinq derni\u00e8res d\u00e9cennies. Son usage continu permet d\u2019en \u00e9viter plus d\u2019une gigatonne par an.<\/p>\n<p>Les donn\u00e9es de l&rsquo;OMS r\u00e9v\u00e8lent que 3,2 millions de personnes d\u00e9c\u00e8dent annuellement \u00e0 cause des affections li\u00e9es \u00e0 l&rsquo;utilisation de combustibles et de technologies polluantes. Il est donc imp\u00e9ratif de consid\u00e9rer le nucl\u00e9aire comme une source d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie fiable et durable.<\/p>\n<h3>Alternative aux \u00e9nergies fossiles<\/h3>\n<p>L&rsquo;\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire pourrait aider \u00e0 r\u00e9soudre une partie de ses probl\u00e8mes \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques tout en atteignant les objectifs de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.capmad.com\/fr\/developpement-durable-fr\/strategie-de-promotion-de-lenergie-durable\/\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: #eb612e\" rel=\"noopener\">transition \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique en Afrique<\/a>. En outre, cette ressource pr\u00e9sente une meilleure solution environnementale sup\u00e9rieure aux \u00e9nergies fossiles, dont le financement rivalise avec les sources d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie plus propres. Remplacer 20 % de la production \u00e9lectrique \u00e0 base de charbon par 250 gigawatts d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire r\u00e9duirait les \u00e9missions de 2 gigatonnes de CO\u2082, soit 15 % des \u00e9missions annuelles du secteur \u00e9lectrique.<\/p>\n<p>Malgr\u00e9 la tendance vers la transition \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique et les \u00e9nergies renouvelables, les projets fossiles continuent d&rsquo;attirer les investisseurs. Cependant, il ne faut pas oublier que l&rsquo;Afrique poss\u00e8de un fort potentiel pour produire de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie renouvelable. L&rsquo;\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire repr\u00e9sente une opportunit\u00e9 parmi d&rsquo;autres, comme l&rsquo;hydro\u00e9lectricit\u00e9, pour acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer la transition \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique du continent.<\/p>\n<h2>D\u00e9fis concernant la viabilit\u00e9 du nucl\u00e9aire en Afrique<\/h2>\n<p>Shaukat Abdulrazak, de la Division Afrique de l&rsquo;AIEA, affirme que l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire exige un engagement \u00e0 long terme d&rsquo;au moins 100 ans et un leadership national fort. Cependant, des d\u00e9bats persistent quant \u00e0 la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et \u00e0 la faisabilit\u00e9 de ces projets. Les catastrophes nucl\u00e9aires historiques, comme celle de Fukushima, alimentent les craintes des populations africaines.<\/p>\n<h3>D\u00e9fis d&rsquo;infrastructure nucl\u00e9aire<\/h3>\n<p>La sous-exploitation de l\u2019\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire en Afrique s&rsquo;explique par des lacunes en connaissances techniques et en infrastructures, ainsi que par l&rsquo;exportation massive d\u2019uranium vers les pays occidentaux. Par exemple, <b>25 % des importations d\u2019uranium de l\u2019Union europ\u00e9enne proviennent du Niger<\/b>. <\/p>\n<p>Cependant, certains pays africains ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 entrepris des initiatives dans ce domaine. Le Burkina Faso aurait sign\u00e9 un accord avec la Russie pour la cr\u00e9ation d\u2019une centrale nucl\u00e9aire. Tandis que le Mali a \u00e9galement conclu un accord avec le gouvernement russe pour d\u00e9velopper son secteur du nucl\u00e9aire civil.<\/p>\n<h3>Faisabilit\u00e9 d\u2019un projet nucl\u00e9aire en Afrique<\/h3>\n<p>Selon la recommandation de l\u2019AIEA, la capacit\u00e9 du r\u00e9seau d\u2019un r\u00e9acteur devrait \u00eatre dix fois sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 celle de la centrale pr\u00e9vue. Par exemple, <b>la g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de 3 000 m\u00e9gawatts d\u2019\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire n\u00e9cessite une centrale d\u2019une capacit\u00e9 de 30 000 m\u00e9gawatts<\/b>. Cependant, les PRM produisent environ la moiti\u00e9 des m\u00e9gawatts d\u2019un r\u00e9acteur traditionnel. Le recours \u00e0 plusieurs petits r\u00e9acteurs modulaires (PRM) et nanor\u00e9acteurs repr\u00e9sente ainsi une meilleure alternative pour r\u00e9volutionner l&rsquo;\u00e9lectronucl\u00e9aire en l\u2019Afrique.<\/p>\n<p>Contrairement aux r\u00e9acteurs \u00e0 eau pressuris\u00e9e (REP), les PRM produits en usine n\u00e9cessitent moins d\u2019investissement initial et moins d\u2019adaptations des infrastructures. De plus, selon des experts, la nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de r\u00e9acteurs rend l\u2019\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire accessible \u00e0 un plus grand nombre de pays africains.
