Le 1er avril 2025, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey a pris ses fonctions en tant que Secr\u00e9taire g\u00e9n\u00e9rale du Commonwealth, succ\u00e9dant \u00e0 Patricia Scotland. Cette nomination marque un tournant pour l’organisation, faisant de Botchwey la premi\u00e8re femme africaine \u00e0 occuper ce poste.<\/p>\n

\nDot\u00e9e de plus de 20 ans d’exp\u00e9rience en diplomatie et en gouvernance, elle a pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment occup\u00e9 les fonctions de Ministre des Affaires \u00e9trang\u00e8res du Ghana, o\u00f9 elle a jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le cl\u00e9 dans les relations internationales et la coop\u00e9ration r\u00e9gionale. Son parcours inclut \u00e9galement des responsabilit\u00e9s en tant que Vice-ministre des Affaires \u00e9trang\u00e8res et Pr\u00e9sidente du Conseil des Ministres de la CEDEAO.<\/p>\n

\nDans son discours d\u2019investiture, la SG a mis en avant trois priorit\u00e9s majeures : l\u2019autonomisation des femmes et des jeunes, la relance du commerce au sein du Commonwealth et la lutte contre l\u2019urgence climatique.
