Lors de la 144\u1d49 session du CIO, qui s\u2019est tenue \u00e0 Costa Navarino, en Gr\u00e8ce, l\u2019ancienne championne olympique zimbabw\u00e9enne a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9lue \u00e0 ce poste, devenant la premi\u00e8re femme et la premi\u00e8re Africaine \u00e0 diriger l\u2019institution olympique depuis sa cr\u00e9ation en 1894.<\/p>\n<p>Avec un parcours exceptionnel, Coventry a marqu\u00e9 l\u2019histoire de la natation, remportant sept m\u00e9dailles olympiques, dont deux titres en 200 m dos lors des Jeux de 2004 et 2008. Sa l\u00e9gitimit\u00e9 en tant qu\u2019athl\u00e8te de haut niveau lui conf\u00e8re une voix autoris\u00e9e pour repr\u00e9senter les sportifs au sein du CIO. \u00ab <i>La jeune fille qui a commenc\u00e9 la natation au Zimbabwe il y a tant d\u2019ann\u00e9es n\u2019aurait jamais pu r\u00eaver de ce moment<\/i> \u00bb, a-t-elle exprim\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>En dehors du sport, Coventry est \u00e9galement Ministre de la Jeunesse, des Sports, des Arts et des Loisirs du Zimbabwe, et fondatrice de la Kirsty Coventry Academy, une organisation qui \u0153uvre pour la pr\u00e9vention de la noyade et le d\u00e9veloppement des comp\u00e9tences des jeunes \u00e0 travers des centres sportifs s\u00e9curis\u00e9s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kirsty Coventry est nomm\u00e9e pr\u00e9sidente du Comit\u00e9 International Olympique (CIO), faisant ainsi entrer l\u2019histoire du sport dans une nouvelle \u00e8re.
