Le Pr\u00e9sident de la R\u00e9publique du Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, a nomm\u00e9 Johnson Asiamah au poste de gouverneur de la Banque centrale. La prise de fonction est pr\u00e9vue d’ici \u00e0 la fin du mois de mars, sous r\u00e9serve de l\u2019approbation du Conseil d’\u00c9tat.<\/p>\n

\u00c9conomiste de formation et technocrate reconnu, le nouveau dirigeant succ\u00e8de au Dr Ernest Addison \u00e0 la t\u00eate de la Banque. Fort de 23 ans d’exp\u00e9rience au sein de l\u2019institution, dont un mandat en tant que deuxi\u00e8me vice-gouverneur entre 2016 et 2017, ce sp\u00e9cialiste des politiques mon\u00e9taires poss\u00e8de une connaissance approfondie du syst\u00e8me bancaire ghan\u00e9en. De plus, son doctorat en \u00e9conomie de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Southampton, au Royaume-Uni, renforce son expertise en mati\u00e8re de politique mon\u00e9taire.<\/p>\n

Son engagement en faveur d\u2019une politique de change rigoureuse et d\u2019une stabilit\u00e9 financi\u00e8re renforc\u00e9e b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie du soutien de la Pr\u00e9sidence ghan\u00e9enne. La priorit\u00e9 consiste \u00e0 relancer une \u00e9conomie en perte de vitesse tout en ma\u00eetrisant une inflation galopante.<\/p>\n

Avec un taux d\u2019inflation atteignant 23,8 % en d\u00e9cembre 2024, la stabilit\u00e9 \u00e9conomique du pays demeure fragilis\u00e9e. Or, la Banque centrale vise un taux inf\u00e9rieur \u00e0 8 %, un objectif encore \u00e9loign\u00e9.
