Un traitement financ\u00e9 par le Fonds mondial pour la lutte contre le VIH<\/h2>\n

Les \u00e9tudes concernant le VIH\/Sida se poursuivent. L’arsenal de pr\u00e9vention du VIH, d\u00e9j\u00e0 en place, est enrichi par un nouveau traitement.<\/b><\/p>\n

Il est d\u00e9sormais possible d’\u00e9viter le VIH\/Sida en prenant des m\u00e9dicaments \u00e0 Madagascar. L’approche de pr\u00e9vention contre le VIH\/Sida connue sous le nom de Prophylaxie Pr\u00e9-Exposition (PrEP) implique la prise d’un m\u00e9dicament pr\u00e9ventif. \u00ab Il s’agit d’un comprim\u00e9 similaire aux antir\u00e9troviraux, contenant des mol\u00e9cules distinctes. Il est conseill\u00e9 aux individus s\u00e9ron\u00e9gatifs pour minimiser le risque de contamination<\/i> \u00bb, pr\u00e9cise Marie Isabelle, la pr\u00e9sidente de l’ONG Mad’Aids, lors de la semaine de d\u00e9pistage du VIH\/Sida.<\/p>\n

D’apr\u00e8s Michaela M\u00fcller-Trutwin, une chercheuse de l’Institut Pasteur, dans une vid\u00e9o d\u00e9di\u00e9e aux questions li\u00e9es au VIH\/Sida, la PrEP est un m\u00e9dicament qui emp\u00eache efficacement la r\u00e9plication du virus du sida. Elle peut \u00eatre prise avant un rapport sexuel, dangereux. Selon cette publication, ce traitement pr\u00e9ventif est extr\u00eamement efficace lorsqu’il est suivi rigoureusement et diminue d’environ 99 % le risque de contracter le VIH lors des rapports sexuels et d’au moins 74 % en cas de partage de seringue.<\/p>\n

N\u00e9anmoins, l’acc\u00e8s \u00e0 ce traitement demeure restreint. Victorius Johnson Firinga, directeur ex\u00e9cutif de l’ONG R\u00e9seau Mad’Aids, pr\u00e9cise que la PrEP est destin\u00e9e aux groupes cl\u00e9s qui sont particuli\u00e8rement expos\u00e9s au VIH\/Sida, tels que les multipartenaires, les travailleurs du sexe et les individus s\u00e9ropositifs.
