En 1972, la HASYMA (Hasy Malagasy) prend en main la gestion de la fili\u00e8re. Par la suite, la culture du coton s\u2019\u00e9tend vers Mahajanga, Ambilobe et Port-Berg\u00e9. Au fil des ann\u00e9es, la fili\u00e8re traverse plusieurs difficult\u00e9s, tant au niveau de la production que de la commercialisation. \u00c0 partir de 2016, une r\u00e9forme introduite l\u2019agriculture contractuelle. Ce syst\u00e8me met en place des accords entre producteurs et acheteurs afin de s\u00e9curiser les ventes et stabiliser les revenus des cultivateurs.<\/p>\n<p>La relance actuelle repose sur la collaboration entre le Minist\u00e8re de l\u2019Agriculture et de la Souverainet\u00e9 alimentaire (MiASA), le Minist\u00e8re du Commerce et de la Consommation, les producteurs et les op\u00e9rateurs \u00e9conomiques. Cette coop\u00e9ration redonne progressivement de la dynamique \u00e0 la fili\u00e8re. En 1972, la production atteint 2 364 kg\/ha, pla\u00e7ant Madagascar au 4\u1d49 rang mondial des exportateurs de coton. Aujourd\u2019hui, les acteurs du secteur visent le retour vers ce niveau de performance, voire son d\u00e9passement.<\/p>\n<p>La c\u00e9r\u00e9monie officielle de lancement de la campagne de culture et de commercialisation du coton se d\u00e9roule le 16 avril 2026 \u00e0 Toliara, sous la direction du Ministre RAMINDO Ga\u00ebtan, en pr\u00e9sence des autorit\u00e9s locales. La fili\u00e8re affiche aujourd\u2019hui des signaux positifs. Le nombre d\u2019op\u00e9rateurs passe de 4 en 2016 \u00e0 6 actuellement. Les superficies cultiv\u00e9es et le nombre de producteurs progressent \u00e9galement.<\/p>\n<p>Cependant, plusieurs d\u00e9fis persistent, notamment l\u2019irrigation, la lutte contre les parasites, l\u2019accompagnement des producteurs et l\u2019am\u00e9lioration de la qualit\u00e9. Par ailleurs, l\u2019adoption de la norme Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) ouvre de nouvelles perspectives.
