Madagascar-China: Agricultural cooperation at the heart of exchanges

Made in Madagascar Products on Showcase in Changsha

From June 12 to 15, 2025, the Malagasy delegation marked its presence at the 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Changsha, China. This major event brings together several African countries around China to discuss concrete and sustainable cooperation.

The Malagasy group highlighted its national resources: agriculture, mining, tourism, technology, as well as « Made in Madagascar » products. This participation aims to attract responsible investments and strengthen the visibility of local expertise on the international market. At a conference dedicated to Sino-African agricultural cooperation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rasata Rafaravavitafika, shared President Andry Rajoelina’s vision. Agriculture is at the heart of the national strategy to achieve food self-sufficiency and position the country as an agricultural hub in the Indian Ocean.

The Chinese province of Hunan, a long-standing partner, plays a key role in this dynamic. Through projects such as the cooperation on hybrid rice technology, a South-South partnership model is emerging, based on respect for sovereignty and shared development. Through this participation, the Malagasy delegation reaffirms its commitment to emerging as a regional agricultural and logistics hub, ready to host structuring projects and build shared prosperity with its partners.
